Our Aims
We will be adding a copy of Pro Zion's constitution here as soon as we
get one scanned in.
Pro-Zion's work helps to support Our Movement, Our Values, and Our Israel.
Pro-Zion works to unite Reform/Progressive Jews and help to empower the
growth of the Progressive Jewish Movement in Israel.
Our Israel
· Will continue our support of the Israeli Religious Action Center and
Israeli Movement for Progressive Judaism to advance our pluralistic Jewish
agenda.
· Will fight for the recognition of our Progressive communities.
· Will bring accountability and integrity to the World Zionist Organization,
the Jewish Agency for Israel, the Jewish National Fund, and Karen Kayemet
L’Yisrael.
· Will promote Zionist Jewish education in our schools, congregations, youth
movements, and camps to make Israel a part of the sacred identity of Reform
& Liberal Jews.
· Will continue to ordain increasing numbers of Israeli Rabbis
· Will fight the Orthodox monopoly hold over Israel.
· Will oppose the continuation of the Chief Rabbinate.
· Will resist the weakening of civil society in Israel.
Our Values
· Command us to follow darchei shalom, the paths of peace.
· Teach us that the sanctity of Jewish life comes before the sanctity of
Jewish land.
· Tell us that the solution to the violence is the creation of two states
with peaceful and secure borders.
· Tell us to repair the world in the name of God, tikkun olam b’malchut
Shaddai, by helping the needy in our midst.
· Teach us that extremism doe not accomplish our goals.
· Make first hand experience in Israel a sacred obligation, supporting short-term
and life-long trips to Israel.
· Encourage and promote Aliyah.
Our Movement
· Will have a ratified Constitution guaranteeing Freedom of Religion and
Freedom from Religion.
· Will grant non-Jewish minorities full equality.
· Will have a Supreme Court the protects the rights of Liberal & Reform
Jews and recognizes the legitimacy of our clergy.
· Will not be divided along the lines of religion, race, politics, gender,
or sexual orientation.
· Will be a true Jewish democracy granting everyone equal rights, giving
voice to the majority while protecting the minority.
· Will continue to foster close ties with the UK government and Jewish community.
